OUR MISSION To support families and serve children and adults living with intellectual disabilities by:

  • Advocating for and developing a full range of community-based services to meet the unique needs of each person and family.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Non-profit On call contractor is the primary contact person from Friday 4:30 pm to Monday 8:30 am for the employees, families, home share providers, and people we support experiencing g emergency situations. WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • You enjoy helping and supporting others in time-sensitive matters.
  • You are always calm and clear in communication.
  • You thrive in urgent and emergency situations and handle these with ease.
  • You are competent o the use ci basic online platform plus Microsoft Word and excel.
  • Effective oral and interpersonal communication skills  including the ability to communicate effectively with employees families and supported individuals.
  • You have had at least 2 years of experience working directly with people living with intellectual disabilities as a manager or in a similar setting.
  • You can meet the agency requirement of a Criminal Record Check.
  • You will complete the NCI certification in intellectual disabilities Society in the first 3 months. You have your First Aid Certificate.

WHAT DOES THE CONTRACT ENTAIL

  • Field phone calls pertaining to emergency situations or scheduling situations of an urgent nature
  • Provide guidance, support and Decision to employees, family members, home share providers and self advocates.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • minimum of 2 years of previous direct program delivery experience or management in the community living sector.

Working Knowledge of the following:

  • IDS policy and procedure manual.
  • IDS on-call guidelines.
  • Community care facilities licensing regulation.
  • WorkSafe BC requirements.
  • CARF Standards.
  • Care plans, support needs, and guidelines for homes, programs, and support individuals.

 JOB SKILLS AND ABILITIES  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and ground facilitation skills.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with employees, families, and supported individuals.
  • Strong computer skills.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • criminal record check
  • valid first aid and crisis intervention (NCI) certification
  • medical approval
  • tuberculosis clearance
  • satisfactory reference checks

HOURS OF WORK  

  • Be available and have internet access every weekend from Friday at 4:40 pm to Monday at 8:30 am

ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS 

  • Support, troubleshoot, and direct staff to take action when navigating emergency situations and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Communicate with program Managers(directors) as necessary for continuity and follow through on incidents.
  • You will be provided with a laptop and phone and are responsible for keeping these devices charged throughout the weekend. You are also required to have internet access available for your devices as you will be using ShareVision.
  • You are required to keep all information and conversations confidential as per the confidential agreement attached.
  • This is a 100% remote position. You will navigate all situations over the phone and on the computer, you will not be required to go into a home or program in an emergency situation.
  • You will always have a manager and director available to you if/when needed.

CONTRACT FEE

  • $180 for each weekend (4:30 pm Friday to 8:30 am Monday)
