Volunteer With IDS

Intellectual Disabilities Society values community and promotes understanding and acceptance through participation in community life. We are happy when community members get involved, as collectively, we shape IDS’s future and make a significant contribution to the vision of a community where all people with disabilities have equal opportunities to lead active, fulfilling lives and are recognized as contributing members of the community. As a volunteer, you get to feel a sense of belonging and experience an inclusive culture that exists within a uniquely diverse community. You get immediate rewards that come from making a difference in the development and empowerment of adults, children, and families!

Requirements to get involved in volunteerism with Intellectual Disabilities Society:

Practicum students:

• Practicum placement request must be submitted to careers@idsbc.org along with resume and cover letter.
• Complete an interview and screening process.
• Meet all the stakeholder requirements (CRC, First Aid, Clear TB result, 2x C-19 vaccination, medical, satisfactory reference check).
• Complete all relevant documentation, orientation as required by IDS and institution.

Volunteers:

• Must be 19 years or older.
• Complete the volunteer registration form and submit resume to careers@idsbc.org
• Apply for the advertised volunteer role or be a member of the society in good standing with a nomination from the board chair.
• Complete an interview and/or board screening.
• Meet all the stakeholder requirements (CRC, First Aid, Clear TB result, 2x C-19 vaccination, medical, satisfactory reference check).
• Complete all relevant documentation, orientation as required.
