Supported Care

A REFERRAL FROM COMMUNITY LIVING BC (CLBC) IS REQUIRED FOR THE FOLLOWING SUPPORTED CARE PROGRAMS:

Home Sharing

This is a personalized, long-term living arrangement where an individual with an intellectual disability lives in a private home with a caregiver who provides holistic support. Home styles may vary and are matched to each individual’s personal needs and preferences.

Staffed Homes

IDS manages 11 homes across the North Shore. Each home provides 24-hour support and care for 4-5 individuals who have an intellectual disability. Qualified staff provide the support needed for each person to live a meaningful, full life, and be included in their community. These individuals may work, volunteer, and attend educational, recreational, and social day programs.

A REFERRAL FROM THE MINISTRY OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY DEVELOPMENT (MCFD) IS REQUIRED FOR THE FOLLOWING PROGRAM:

Family Respite – Available to children 18 and under

IDS offers assistance to families with children who have special needs. Respite caregivers provide temporary care for children and youth, offering them a secure and supportive environment. This service not only allows children and youth to interact with new individuals and engage in different experiences, but it also offers their parents or main caregivers a necessary break. IDS’s respite staff often form a vital part of a family’s support system.
